The article is devoted to the famous Finnish lyric poet Uuno Kailas. Historical themes, the tragic worldview in his works are combined with subtle poetic notes. Kailas is known as a “reactionary”, but we prove that the label of a “reactionary” does not go with Kailas’ lyrics, his understanding of the history and his faith in the purpose of poetry.
