The article analyzes data from mass media and the Internet that build up stereotypes concerning female scientific workers. These data are compared with the opinion of the respondents – female scientists of different generations. The paper continues the long-term study of the gender component in the system of characteristics of the scientific community in the Soviet and modern Russia, and proves their exists gender asymmetry as the basis for gender discrimination in modern Russian society.
