Local Micromammalia faunas of planned protected areas were surveyed in 1997-2000 within the Russian-Finnish project "Biodiversity inventory and studies in Republic of Karelia". Surveys covered the planned Kalevala, Koitajoki, Ladoga skerries National parks, Zaonezhskiy Nature park, Keretskiy landscape reserve. The paper discusses the results of the inventory of the small mammal fauna, studies of the dominance structure, spatial and biotopic distribution of the animals, population density estimates.
