Results of the comparative analysis of two methods for determination of protein concentration in a solution – direct spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 200–220 mn, and the Bradford protein assay – are reported. It is shown that the extinction coefficient at 205 nm is the most suitable for total protein and peptide determination irrespective of their amino acid composition. To estimate the concentration of low-molecular peptide compounds we suggest using their optical spectrophotometry in the 210–220 nm region.
