The review includes investigation of the literature and our own data on biochemical adaptations of marine bivalves exposed to short-term anoxia. Various mechanisms of metabolic regulation in Bivalvia in response to low oxygen concentrations in the environment were described. It is shown that biochemical adaptations are a key way of marine bivalves survival under anoxic conditions.
