ABOUT JOURNAL
Founder and publisher: Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences (KarRC RAS).
11 Pushkinskaya Street, 185910 Petrozavodsk

The journal’s Editor-in-Chief: RAS Corresponding Academician A.F. Titov.

The Scientific Journal “Transactions of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences” (Transactions of KarRC RAS) was established in 2009, replacing a serial non-periodical edition of the same name.

The Editorial Committee of the Scientific Journal “Transactions of KarRC RAS” is made up of 22 leading scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk and Murmansk Regions, Republics of Karelia and Komi (including 8 RAS fellows), as well as from Finland, Germany, Estonia, Poland, Sweden, USA, and Canada. For the readers’ convenience, the Editorial Committee resolved to have articles grouped by scientific fields, and the following thematic series have thus formed over years: Biogeography (since 1999), Experimental Biology, Research in the Humanities (2010–2015), Mathematical Modeling and Information Technologies (since 2010), Precambrian Geology (since 2012), Region: Economy and Management (2012–2015) (2012–2015), Ecological Studies (since 2013), Limnology and Oceanology. This set of series not only reflects the key areas of research at KarRC RAS but also fills in many gaps in the listing of Russian journals. For series such as Biogeography, Precambrian Geology, Limnology and Oceanology there are no direct analogues among Russian scientific journals.

Since the foundation of the journal its periodicity increased from four to six issues in 2011 and to twelve in 2015. Over the years of its existence the journal has published over 1500 articles by authors from more than 100 scientific and educational institutions of the Russian Federation, as well as from scientific organizations of Finland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Ireland, USA, China, France, Japan, Ukraine.

Papers can be published either in the Russian or in the English language.

In 2015 the journal launched a full-scope electronic version based on Open Journal System (OJS). Manuscript submission and editing process, authors’ communication with editorial boards of the respective series and reviewers have since then been in electronic format; the reviewing process is transparent, while reviewers are kept anonymous. Furthermore, in 2015 the journal was included in the international database CrossRef, and each article is supplied with DOI (Digital object identifier), making its retrieval from the Internet easier.

The Journal has been included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific editions endorsed for the mandatory publication of the key scientific results of Candidate of Sciences (PhD) and Doctor of Sciences (DSc) theses (VAK list).

The journal is indexed in the systems:

  • RSCI (license agreement ¹ 107-03/2012 of 28.03.2012), listed in RSCI core,
  • Ńyberleninka (license agreement ¹ 26765-01 of 27.06.2014),
  • Web of Science (Zoological Records),
  • Directory of Open Access Journals ID (DOAJ)
  • GeoRef (Precambrian Geology series).

See author guidelines for papers submitted for publication in the journal.

Open license. Making the edition as open as possible has from the very start been a priority for the Editorial Committee. Under the Creative Commons Attribution public license the users are allowed to read, download, copy, redistribute, reprint full-text articles from the journal with no prior permission from the publisher or author, given that appropriate credit is given to the journal and authors of the article.

The journal founder bears all the costs of preparing the articles for print and publication. No fee is charged for the publication of manuscripts.
