We study a model for particle allocation to N diﬀerent cells in which the random variables η₁,...,η_N equal to the number of particles in cells are independent and have a Poisson distribution. For a subset of realizations of such a scheme satisfying η₁ + ... + η_N ≤ n limit distributions of cell number µ_r with exactly r particles are obtained as N → ∞.
