O.Ch. Reut, T.P. Teterevleva. The “railcar in a necktie” or a “great statesman”: representations of the historical figure in modern russian political discource // Transactions of Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Science. No 4. Humanitarian studies. Vol. 4. 2013. Pp. 107-112
Keywords: representation, historiography, P. A. Stolypin, political discourse.
The processes of construction, representation and transformation of images of historical figures are in the focus of the contemporary historiographical research. The field of study includes not just academic, but other discourses as well, and, above all, the political one. The paper provides an outline of the ways of representation and interpretation of P.A. Stolypin’s image in the official discourse, as well as in the discourse of the “system”, “non-system” and “new” opposition, based on the analisys of texts reflecting the genre diversity of the Russian political discourse (especially “precedent” texts). By defining the main structural elements of the image of P.A. Stolypin, the authors examine how the academic historical-biographical narrative is currently refracted in the national political discourse.
