Keywords: documentary, Late Soviet Era, social structure, representation.
This article compares the three different ways in which post-soviet TV projects (“20th century. Russian Secrets”; “Recently: 1961–1991. Our Era”; “Historical Chronicles with Nikolai Svanidze”) represented the Late Soviet Era. Differences between the authors’ narratives are due to the three approaches to categorizing the society and to uneven coverage of each category in the video narratives. These patterns of structuring the narration in the projects in question have caused three divergent versions of the Late Soviet Era history to appear.
