The condition of forest litters at various distances from the Kostomuksha ore-dressing mill was studied. The effects of air-borne pollutants on the soil acidity, ash content and heavy metal accumulation through the 27-year period of the mill operation were revealed. The condition of the litters in the area of 25 km around the mill were assessed.
