E.I. Markova. Kalevala themes in Nikolai Klyuev’s narrative poem “The song of the sun bearer” // Transactions of Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Science. No 3. Humanitarian studies. 2014. Pp. 108-113
Keywords: narrative poem, runo song, the “big oak” plot, The Creation, image of the sun, Hub of the Universe, oracular singer
The paper gives a comparative analysis of N. Klyuev’s “The Song of the Sun Bearer” and Karelian epic literature (“Kalevala” and folklore texts with the “big oak” plot). Although there are no direct references to the named texts in the Klyuev’s poem, the idea of The Creation, the dominant image of the oak, the figure of the demiurge singer, etc. hint at a connection to the former. Both genetically and typologically, they represent related epic genres (folklore, literaryfolklore, literary).
