Surveys of felled areas in Karelia yielded a total of 231 vascular plant species of 143 genera and 56 families, i.e. c. 16% of the flora of Karelia (taxon volume interpreted broadly). 92% of the species growing in the cut-overs are native to the area. Analysing the geographical structure of the flora of felled areas one would notice the prevalence of zonal (boreal) elements. 12% of the species can be called constant representatives of the flora of felled areas in Karelia, and most of those are forest species with a wide ecological range. 66% of the species were represented in the cutovers by single or very rare occurrences. Anthropogenic transformation of the flora in felled areas is low: species of natural habitats prevail (62.7%), adventitious species contribute slightly (8%) – apophytes prevail in the synanthropic complex (37.3%).
