Растительность аапа-болот Корякского округа (Камчатский край)

The article provides new data on the location, structure and vegetation of three aapa mires of the northern Koryak Okrug. Aapa mires of the Pylgovayam Depression (Olyutor District), located at 61°04’N, 168°03’E, in the Beringian forest-tundra zone, were detected for the first time and surveyed by the transect method. These mires are situated 200 km north of the Ossora mire (Karaginsky District), previously described by M. S. Boch. Aapa mires of the Pylgovayam Depression, e.g. the Ossora mire, belong to the North Kamchatka Province of aapa-palsa mires, according to the classification of M. S. Boch. These forest-tundra aapa mires have a gently sloping concave surface, characterized by a string-flark microrelief with heterotrophic string-flark, string-pool, and string flark-pool complexes. The vegetation on strings is oligotrophic or mesotrophic, while in the flarks it is mesotrophic or eutrophic. A distinctive feature of aapa mires in the northern Koryak Okrug is their being completely treeless. The peat deposit is shallow, of fen or transitional type. The aapa mires are fed by both precipitation and groundwater inflow from underneath the Ivtygin Mountain Range foothills. Mires in the Pylgovayam Depression formed within the permafrost distribution range, and relic frozen peat palsas with clumps of Siberian dwarf pine (Pinus pumila) and dwarf birch (Betula middendorffii) occur on the margins of the aapa mire massif. The studied aapa mires are characterized by high plant species and community diversity.
