Zoobenthos of rapids of the rivers of North-western part of the Murmansk region was study. A survey identified the species composition, abundance and biomass of zoobenthos. Key biotopes – small boulders ground with a large proportion of gravel and the srface of large boulders with few macrophytes. It was shown that the species composition, abundance and biomass of benthic communities are determined by complex factors, in particular, the hydrological conditions in the biotope, substrate characteristics, density of macrophytes, the nearness of the flow lake upstream. The effect of industrial pollution on the species diversity and quantitative characteristics of zoobenthos was revealed.
