Comparative analysis of 21 local floras in Southern Karelia gave rise to a number of hypotheses concerning the floristic boundaries in the area. Surveys verified the existence of a floristic boundary delimiting a sector (subsector) coinciding with the boundary between northern and middle taiga subzones. The North-Priladozhje floristic district appeared to stand out quite distinctly. Eastern features show in the Kivach and Selgi local floras, which are associated with the local floras located east of Lake Onega. Mathematical methods did not yield any clear floristic division of the central part of Southern Karelia, due to the lack of studies rather than its homogeneity. Simultaneously, the results of our research suggest there exists a longitudinal boundary of a floristic sub-sector between Käsnäselkä-
Hiisjärvi and Matrosy local floras.
