Analyses of the distribution and occurrence of vascular plant species in biogeographical provinces of Karelia has been made. These provinces have been picked out by Scandinavian nature researchers and we use them as Holistic districts. A certain tendency of decrease in the number of species in the provinces from south to north and from west to east has been revealed. There are clear differences in the content of the flora of Karelian provinces, which are situated in the north and middle taiga subzones. From 926 native Karelian species 140 (15%) are distributed in the north taiga only and 296 (32%) - in the middle taiga. Totally it makes 436 species (47%). 95 species (10% of native species) are distributed in one of the provinces only and they form their floristic specification. These species can be used as differential species for floristic zoning purpose.
