Keywords: light-at-night, antioxidant enzymes, life span
We evaluated the effect of exposure to constant light started at the age of 1 month and at the age of 14 months on the survival, life span and age-related dynamics of activity antioxidant enzymes and level of .-tocopherol in various organs in comparison to the rats maintained at the standard (12 : 12) light/dark regimen. The exposure to constant light started at the age of 14 months delayed aging of enzymatic and non-enzymatic component of antioxidant defence system that, probably, is one of the reasons of prolongation of a life span of animals. Circadian disruption induced by light-at-night started at the age of 1 month accelerates aging.
