Relying on materials from local archives we consider the diverse realities of captivity: conditions of confinement, meals, medical care, organization of leisure. Internal relationships within the prisoner camp community, various perceptions of the captivity, specific features of the discourses of foreign military captivity in Karelia are investigated.
