The article is a synthesis of all currently known materials on the costume from 9th–11th century Mari medieval burials (249 assemblages from 7 sites), which are discussed against the background of the broad similarities with synchronous antiquities from neighboring territories. The ethnic identity of the costume was reconstructed using not only jewelry, but also the preserved remains of organic materials: fabrics, leather, fur, etc.
